The nose on this wine is delicious. It smells like a blend of grass and wet soil (vegetal characteristics). Solid acidity throughout, if you look closer a wide range of different flavors appear in the background.

At first it reminds me of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, but after a second or two, it becomes clear that this wine is unique. At first, you get a little sweetness that Ted compares to a riesling. This sweetness quickly shifts into a chaotic mixture of flavors. Finally, it settles down and you get a hit of grassy acidity and spice. There is a solid oak flavor on the finish that gives this wine depth and seriousness.

Rueda is a region in Spain located northwest of Spain and just southwest of the mythical Ribera del Duero red wine region. Wine has been produced commercially in this region since the 11th century, making it an excellent old world wine region.

The long acidic finish of this wine makes me think of a great Sauvignon Blanc but the fruity aromas make me think of Riesling. This wine is well balanced and delicious. It’s going to great as aperitif or with fruit based desserts, like apple tart. Mmm, mmm.
